Silky, smooth, distinct… after five co-written and self-produced indie albums, two Billboard club singles, and several international chart-topping records including “SUNDAY”, “FLOW”, “SOUL SIZE LOVE” & “BEAUTIFUL” (featuring Grammy nominated Artist, Josh Milan), Jaidene Veda has become a recognizable voice in both the underground house community and top 40 club circuits around the world. Having worked with groundbreaking artists such as Ursula Rucker, Joaquin « Joe » Claussell, Josh Milan ( formerly from Motown Record’s duo « Blaze”), as well as Producers Osunlade, Atjazz, Spinna, Jimpster, Ananda Project, Glen Underground & The Rurals, Veda’s continually maturing sound has been praised as inimitable.
Often described as ‘Bjork meets Sade’, even dubbed a ‘modern-day Tracey Thorn’, NYC’s « GIANT STEP RECORDS » recognized her multiple talents via their ‘Next Step’ contest, and further echoed comparisons to the « Naked Music » era that influenced her from the start.
Also an award-winning Filmmaker, Cinematographer, and Sound Designer, Jaidene (an audio graduate from the Vancouver Film School) was recognized at several International Graduate Film Festivals, for ‘Outstanding Video-making Achievement’, as well as nominations for ‘Best Experimental’ & ‘Best Original Music’, for her debut short film in 2005.
Receiving awards for ‘Best Sound’ in both Toronto and Vancouver, she continued to direct and post-produce an award-winning commercial for the sponsoring executives at ‘PEPSI’.
She continues working behind the lens and is now well known for experimenting with indie music videos and film shorts alongside fellow Canadian performance Artists, including a guerrilla documentary, focused on the Calgary underground scene that influenced a younger Veda. Her latest endeavours to broaden her skillset led her to study Photography at the Paris College of Art in 2015. Two of her studio pieces were selected and included in world-renowned & Celebrity Photographer, Michael Daks’ exhibition, « The Body », held in France. Singer, Songwriter, Producer, Sound Designer, Filmmaker, Photographer… this « Jane of all trades » and proud DIY Artist, recently completed her sixth successful crowd sourcing effort.
The fan-funded albums are a unique display of songwriting, producing, filmmaking, videography, photography and the management of a large team of live Jazz & String players, fellow Singer/Songwriters and Co-Producers that span the globe from the US, UK, EU, South Africa & Japan. Veda continues to represent her roots worldwide having continually toured across Canada & the United Stated, with stand out performances in Brussels, Barcelona, Portugal, London, New York & Zagreb, Croatia.
